Hidden Chapters are exclusive character side stories that unlock when a player’s Affinity reaches a value you choose.
Instead of making Affinity feel like just another number, each unlock gives players something meaningful: a new story, a hidden truth, or another side of your character. As the relationship develops, players get to know your character on a deeper level.
For creators, Hidden Chapters are also an easy way to keep a character fresh.
Regular updates send a simple message: you are still creating, and this character’s story is still growing.
You do not need to rewrite the entire character profile. Even a small new chapter can add depth, build anticipation, and give players a reason to keep coming back.
🎨 What Can You Write About?
Not sure where to begin? Try one of these three ideas.
1. Reveal a Secret or Easter Egg
Share something that is not included in the character’s public profile. It could be a memory they rarely discuss, an unusual habit, or a reaction they only show in a certain situation.
These small discoveries give players that satisfying “I found something hidden” feeling while making your character feel more layered and real.
2. Create a Seasonal Bonus Scene
Valentine’s Day, your character’s birthday, New Year’s Eve, and other special occasions are perfect opportunities for a new chapter.
Seasonal stories give players something timely to discover and create memorable moments they can share with your character.
3. Build a Hidden Story Arc
Have a bigger story to tell? Use Hidden Chapters to expand your character’s world.
Reveal who they were before meeting the player, explore an event that shaped their personality, or create a special scene around a relationship milestone such as a confession or a first touch.

📝 How to Create a Hidden Chapter in Floze
Creating a Hidden Chapter only takes a few steps.
① Choose an Affinity Level
Select the Affinity value that will unlock the chapter.
Only one chapter can be assigned to each Affinity value, so consider how you want to space out your story milestones if you plan to create several chapters.
② Add a Title
Give your chapter a short, compelling title that makes players want to unlock it.
Titles such as “The Letter He Never Sent” or “The Great Cake Cover-Up” offer a hint without revealing the entire story.
③ Write an Introduction
The Introduction is the teaser players see before the chapter is unlocked.
Give them just enough information to spark curiosity, but do not reveal the main surprise. Focus on the situation, emotional stakes, or unanswered question that makes the chapter worth unlocking.
For example:
Austin has been unusually protective of his kitchen all afternoon. Now you have arrived earlier than expected, and the suspicious noises and slightly smoky smell suggest that something has gone very wrong. What is he trying so hard to hide?
④ Write the First Message
This is the first message your character sends when the Hidden Chapter begins.
To include narration or actions, place an asterisk on both sides of the text, just as you would in the main character settings.
For example:
*You arrive at Austin’s apartment earlier than planned. The moment he opens the door, he steps into the hallway and pulls the door almost shut behind him. There is flour on his shirt and a faint smell of smoke drifting from the kitchen.*
"You’re early. That’s fine. I just need you to stay right here and not ask any extremely reasonable questions."
⑤ Add the Background
The Background is your behind-the-scenes guide for the AI. Players will not see it, but it helps the AI understand how the chapter should unfold.
For a more consistent scene, include:
- When and where the chapter takes place
- What happened before the scene begins
- Your character’s current goals and emotional state
- Important facts the character already knows
- Plot points or special rules the AI should follow
Here’s an example:
## Setting
- The chapter takes place in Austin’s apartment on a quiet Saturday afternoon.
- The user arrives thirty minutes earlier than expected.
## Background
- Austin secretly tried to bake the user’s favorite strawberry cake after they mentioned craving one.
- He has little baking experience and has already ruined two attempts.
- The kitchen is still messy, and the final cake is unfinished when the user arrives.
## Austin’s Goal
- Austin wants to hide the surprise until the cake is ready.
- He feels embarrassed and flustered but remains playful.
## Story Direction
- Keep the scene warm, funny, and lightly flirty.
- Austin may make excuses or distract the user before eventually revealing the cake.
- Allow the user to tease him or help finish decorating it.
- End with them sharing the imperfect cake together.

- Affinity range: -2,000 to 2,000
- Maximum number of chapters: 42 Hidden Chapters per character
- One chapter per Affinity value: The same value cannot be assigned to multiple chapters
- No early spoilers: Players can see your teaser Introduction before unlocking the chapter, while the full story remains hidden
- Tab visibility: If your character does not have any Hidden Chapters, the Hidden Chapters tab will not appear on their profile
